Re: King Tubby Originals...
three great dubs from tubby
AFRICAN LOVE DUB (clocktower release)
FREEDOM SOUNDS IN DUB (featuring soul syndicate)
AFRICAN BROTHERS MEET KING TUBBY (nature sounds label)
all three are killer dubs, especially african brothers dub.
as for the ones you mentioned roots of dub is also a superior dub album.
i must urge you to at least check out the african brothers meet king tubby in dub, it has to be one of the most rootsy dub albums ive heard. it has to be at least #3 in mi all time favorite

cheers mate, will definitely check them out.
thing is i'm looking for though, is what are their originals?
as in like, who were the artists behind these songs that tubby remixed?
eg, johnny clarke was behind fittest of the fittest dub with no wicked shall enter the kingdom... etc

Re: King Tubby Originals...
for african brothers meet king tubby in dub it is
african brothers (want some freedom)
alot of king tubbys dub albums are a compilation of varius artists usually it is johnny clarke, prince alla, delroy wilson, earl zero, rod tayler, philip frazer, etc etc.
if you type king tubby in the roots archives database it will show you everything that he engineered, its a large list to say the least. you should find what you are looking for.
respect

Re: King Tubby Originals...
Right ok cheers for that, but I'm still having no luck in discovering what the original songs are!
I've actually stumbled across a few cool songs that I recognise from my dub collection.
I like to listen to dub and find out who originally made it afterwards, as opposed to finding out the remix.
Battle Axe dub - was by Sly and Robbie but I cannot find the original.
Roots Dub and Dub Fever - are otherwise known as War, and Conference on A Sly and Robbie meets Tubby album but this is still not use!
But the one i need most has to be Harder Dub. what a tune.
cheers.

Hey jc_everton
Apologies. I gave a long-winded answer relating to "Roots Dub", before I re-read your initial post only to see you meant "Roots **of** Dub".
I deleted the post hoping to be able to give you the correct answer when I got home!
Here it is. "Roots of Dub" - Cornell Campbell - "The Sun".

Re: King Tubby Originals...
hey 6abantte, many thanks for that! I have since downloaded the sun (otherwise known as Stars) and I do indeed love it.
interesting fact i've found - the drifter by cornell campbell is the same as johnny big mouth by don carlos, one of my favourite reggae songs!
anyway i'm off the mark now - i have 1 down, 5 to go! No but seriously, any help is massively appreciated. I know some songs are going to be hard to track down, but they must be out there somewhere!
by the way, The Best Is Lose on Crucial Dub, was this just a demo remixed? I can't imagine there to be any vocals on there, they wouldn't go!

Hey Jonny
Not a problem. Again apologies. I was hoping to fill in the gap where the full-stop was before you noticed.
Incidentally, "Stars" is the Studio One version of the song.
The only other track that you mention earlier that I have is "Battle Axe Dub" and, after playing it briefly, I'll have to ponder on that.
"The Best Is Lose" - I'll try and listen to tonight as I do have that.
