Know nothing about "None A Jah Jah Children" LP (unless i heard it on mp3).
About "Handsworth Explosion Vol.One", i think it's great!
On the back sleeve, we can read: "Black Symbol was founded by the lead singer Fatman and has now established himself. Fatman was born in Jamaica in 1956 in the parish of St Annes. He came to England in 1973.Fatman is the lead singer who has a great future ahead as the best up and coming vocalist. He comes from a line of well known singers. Black Symbol has three disco 45's released in july.Fatman gives inspiration both spiritually and physically, with structure and presentation".
2 more tracks of Black Symbol appear on "Handsworth Explosion volume II" (BS 007) ,called "Feeling is Irie" and "Trouble Trouble".
Hope this can help you!
Blessings,...
Is this the same Fatman who appear on U-Browns - Mr Brown Something ?

a red gold and green cover, with the name of the album in black. the picture seems like a 90' computer selfmade thing rather than a true reggae cover from the 80'. but we never know

MadAmigo; I wouldn't think that it is the same Fatman - legendary sound system man in England.
Great album that one with U Brown.
The Black Symbols album is from what I've understood nothing more than a collection of their discos and not an actual release. It should have gotten a proper release though as it's a really good compilation.

But worth, 100% my favourite tune by them...
There is a 7" single by them, on their label, nice too... Loren C played it in Geneva last time, never had heard of.

I remember searching for tunes by this band years ago and finding several bands by the same name, i think i found 3 bands, one from JA, one from UK and a soul band in the US. Either going by the names Symbols, or Black Sybmols, but the "Motherless Children" tunes by the symbols is also a killa song, are we 100% sure these two bands aren't linked?
The style of the UK Black Symbols reminds by of Black roots, Sons of Jah, Brimstone, Prewax etc. same kinda of style. There are many other obscure UK bands from the same time i wish i could remember some more names....
I'm surprised no one has posted up back with more info, someone who knew the band or who can remember them at the time, i'm sure we'll get some more info soon... but i do recall there being many threads about this band on B+F over the years.
**I also remember a couple of threads on a band called The Eagles(or Black Eagles?) who did some killa roots tunes...same kinda style..
