That new story of him begging etc. is from the 80's so thats old news, last time i saw him he was in Europe at a reggae fest, i forget which, so obviously getting some work, this was maybe 3-4yrs back.
To be honest i don't feel that comfortable with the title of this thread, like how would you feel if you went online and googled your name to find a load of people you don't even know discussing your wellbeing... I think it would be right to change the word "welfare" to something more appropriate "info" maybe, up to you of course.

If you can bring together some real support for him i am sure we can track him down for you to help.

I've often mentioned the idea of setting up a organization in the past to help the old artists, the idea of JAAVA is all well and good but i don't see them doing alot of direct work to help artists in need... there website is not maintained it's down right now, only the home page works. It doesn't surprise me at all though, anyone who has been to Jamaica will know the problems you face on a daily basis....

If anyone is serious about setting up a new organization to help the old artists then please get in touch with me and lets do it.. too many old artists suffering right now, any organization that does setup needs to be transparent and have some rules on how the help is divided.

I would love nothing more than to be part of the creation of an organization that makes a difference to these guys, maybe a benefit gig each year, where they all meet up and have a dinner party, something like that.

Then a register to sign up the artists, find out their most desperate needs etc. and it really needs a team of people willing to work at getting sponsors and some serious help but as we all know the hardcore reggae fans will help if they can just trust where they money is going.

There must be many creative minds on this board all who have plenty of skills, if we can maybe get together a list of people who want to set something up and those who are willing to devote some time to this we could setup an online office, there are many free system you can use and get something started...

Easier said than done of course but just making my interest known to others... link up if you interested...

ONE LOVE

Just found video of him in 2010 http://youtu.be/Bbjh3TPNBoQ
You can see he was not a good way at this time, you can also find similar video of him in 2004 at Rebel Salute. Big Respect for him to even try getting up on stage, he was just not yet ready in himself but u can hear his voice is still there.
