Not just Jamaicans - Rizla is the main brand in the UK too.

Bim Sherman track - i don't think Doug Wimbush plays on this track, but On-U frequently used Akabu as backing singers as well as anyone else around the studio at the time, eg. maybe that's where Doug comes in (if it's him).

On the sleeve to the 12inch it says
'Special thanks to Bim Sherman + Doug Wimbish'

That's what made me think perhaps he was the other singer. It's a male voice for sure. As you say, I don't think he actually plays bass but you never know.

The tune is "Dread Called Fred", can be found on Dillinger's "Cornbread" LP. There are a few tunes that came out around that time that reference "a dread called Fred" but I think tha's the one you want based on what I recall of the lyrics.
