Oke Mick Thanks for your msg. I wasnt bragging it is an interpretation on behalve of the persons who read my messages. It sais imho more about them then my supposed 'indirectly' bragging. And read all my other msgs on RA I donnot have a trackrecord of bragging.

But Oke if I must talk about my collection which isnt the issue here. Iam a very small collector (I also sell more and more stuff nowadays) because I mainly focus on Perry stuff 71-79 and unknown reggae 7''. For those people this release is dissapointed. And we do have a right to say something here. I guess we are also a targetgroup of PS. Dismiss my opinion by saying it is bragging is what is bothering me. And I wont accept that.

I understand you 'fight' the braggers but it cannot have the effect that a specific targetgroup of PS isnt allowed to speak up because it is a minority (and others interpreted it as bragging).

Futher I was a bit fierce and that isnt neccesary in this forum. I regrett that. I still hope we get back on topic everything has been said.

So got my copy. At first listen I was a little dissapointed, but after third listen I really like it.

I've chopped the album up to split the versions out and re-arranged the track listings

I think this is a great release as I never really knew that Perry made such roots sounding records

I mean some of these records sound almost like standard roots records, whilst I always thoguht Perry always kinda had his 'own' sound

I think this is a really important phase in Perry's evolution, and I'm so glad that pressure sounds made this compilation

Anyone got any info on the Keith Poppin track?Thanks in advance ...

"Be Prepared" nice track, I never even realised Keith Poppin had recorded for Lee Perry.

I`m pretty sure I don`t have any other tracks of his that were done with Lee Perry.

What info you after?

Dave , I checked what sources I have and couldn`t find any reference to this track . ( I`ve found details about some of the other tracks on the CD - labels , matrixes etc. (tu), I also checked the blank checker pages in " Kiss Me Neck " - Jeremy Collingwood`s book )

I have a weird feeling that it`s something to do with Poppin`s " Weeping and Wailing " , but I`m most probably wrong , I usually am

It`s just a good track and I wan`t to know more about it

I can see what you mean about the "Weeping and Wailing" song as the backing track does sound similar to that of "Be Prepared" but "Weeping and Wailing" is a much slower version.

Trev, was "Weeping and Wailing" a Perry production as I have it on his "Original Recordings 1970-1979" CD and it doesn`t credit Perry or Black Ark for any of the songs.

Phil Pratt seems to be the connection here,I think?He recorded quite a few tracks at the Black Ark.

No it doesn't sound like it was done at the Ark, definitely at the Randy's (circa 1972). I thought of Phil Pratt too, my guess it isn't Perry production. The lead guitar has resemblance to 'Preacher Man' by The Stingers, but that doesn't prove anything cause Phil Pratt could've hired the very same session players the next day.

My main complaint is that many of these tracks sound like they aren't recorded at the right pitch. For example 'Horny Train' sounds really sluggish compared to the original, this just one example of many tracks that sound too slow to me.

Dub plates often have slower pitches..Fever riddim is different pitch for every take!

By the way, "Cleo's dub" on new Yabby you is Black ark business...
