I cannot agree more. I'd much rather have a CD or MP3 then vinyl. I do not see the purpose of having a CD/MP3 player and also a record player for vinyl.
Vinyl is very popular in the UK and other European Countries....they have more underground DJ sound system shows so they like to "scratch" the vinyl which seem would eventually ruin the record.
Good post~

Of course vinyl sound is warmer and it sounds better than mp3, but if there were no mp3, I’ve never had a chance to listen reggae. you see, now I have vinyl and cd's, because I’m interested in it, but when I just started to download this mp3's, I’ve know nothing about vinyl. Still I’ve got about 80 gb of mp3, but I’m listening to them rarely, because I prefer vinyl sound.
Also, there are some choons that you can find only in mp3, and as for me there is nothing bad to download and listen it.
Before I buy something, I listen it in mp3, so I can know how this thing sounds.
And of course, there are people who just have no money to buy cd or vinyl.
Selling downloaded mp3's is bad, but there are a lot of worst tings, for example war...And the aim of music is not to give lot of $$$ to producer or someone, but to bring the vibe&message to people.
Jah Bless

you can actually change speed (+50% or -50%) and even correct the sound with the pitch function.
obviously the more you change the speed the more sound quality is affected. it depends also from the quality of the audio file
these functions are very important cos speed often changes on jamaican vinyl and versions are often speeded up or down.
these technics cd players are really the best I've ever used... I didn't mention that you control them using a fake vinyl and the same buttons than the technics vinyl players.
I decided to go for these cd players when I moved to another country and didn't want to take the risk to damage my vinyls.
you should just try to convert a vinyl into audio file and then use it with these cd players. the sound quality is more or less the same, the controls are more or less the same but you don't worry no more about ruining one precious vinyl or running out of space because of your vinyls.
they're quite expensive but whi can afford it can only be satisfied.
PS : looking for the b side of burning spear foggy road called foggy road version... anyone?

Ok guys, you considere that the ones who download mp3's are thiefs? What is your judgement about a guy who STOLE the lp's in a shop??
Lets imagine a new ppl coming and saying:
I have stole ALL my lp's from a shop where the seller is blind!!!
I ask it cause i know how lot of lp's buyers are SNOBS with their precious lp's and are PISSEDS to see new people having same or more stuff than them without bying it... (jalousy, snobism, desire to be one of the rarest lucker on Earth with some albums etc etc)
Then what happened with a "classic thief"? What will be your arguments face to it?? You will acting again as pure and honorable people and show your sword of justice for tell us what is the good way and morale for have some reggae albums??
Im curious to see your answers now guys! Remember, i had STOLE all my lp's from a unprotected stock! muwhaha
What now?
Im more respectable that a mp3 downloader cause i HAVE only lp's? (lol)
And YOU, can you give us proofs that the money than you use for buy YOUR lp's are coming from an honnest way??
I dont think that anyone here can give us lessons about oor downloads from p2p's!!!

If it wasnt for mp3s I wouldnt be buying as much records as I do. I say mp3s are good if you are somewhat conscious in what you are doing. Just becaus you download music it doesnt mean your not buying records, I see it as a way to explore new music.

I have this to say on this great (& v. amusing thread): I've got approx 5000 bits of vinyl & near on the same CD's (not all reggae but a large percentage). I still do & always will buy vinyl & CD cos I love to have the physical object, reading sleeve notes, booklets etc gives me a buzz, an LP cover can be a work of art, vinyl is just better & easier when DJ-ing etc etc. BUT I still download Mp3 & can't see anything wrong with that... there are certain albums that are near on impossible to buy - never released on CD, long out of press on vinyl - yeah I'd sooner have a 'real' copy but if that's not possible then at least I get to hear it with an Mp3. Until I'm fortunate enough to stumble across that scarce Yabby 7" (or whatever) at a garage sale then an Mp3 is good for me, unless you are prepared to buy £120 (for example) on eBay then some quality stuff just is not obtainable!!!!
I've given up 'nuff of my hard earned over the years to feel totally comfortable with downloading rare albums, Ive put plenty in the pockets of record shops / labels & hopefully artists too....
Of course if you have some cash to spend & never buy anything & only download then that's a different story... & you probably are a bad man!!
Peace. x
