Re: Lee Perry - The Sound Doctor!
Upsetting indeed!:(Sammy wrote:My main complaint is that many of these tracks sound like they aren't recorded at the right pitch. For example 'Horny Train' sounds really sluggish compared to the original, this just one example of many tracks that sound too slow to me.
The 3 most important tracks to me:
Horny Train - same mix as on the (late 80´s or)1993 UK Upsetters 99TM 7" (Roots Train/Version), but much slower!
Message To The Nation / Dub Message is also slower than my (poorer quality) MP3.
Haven´t yet compared the few others I´d previously had/heard...
What´s with this...?

OK, now I´ve checked the tracks previously released on various CDs (and a couple I had otherwise) -
ALL RUN TOO SLOW on "Sound Doctor" compared to the earlier releases!
Something is not right here...(td)
Poor mastering control?

The Tinga Stewart track sounds like it's slowed down.

Re: Lee Perry - The Sound Doctor!
Could it be that the other versions run too fast?
Perry himself has significant involvement with overseeing these Pressure Sounds releases, right?

What other CD`s do you have with these tracks on as I got stacks of CD`s but hardly any containing tracks from the "Sound Doctor" compilation.
Thanks

Different Experience –
“Return of Wax” Ravensquire/Justice League CD
(also “Magnetic Mirror Master Mix” Anachron LP and Black Art 12”)
006 (UK mix, which admittingly most likely is speeded up…) –
“Double Seven” Trojan CD
Water Your Garden –
“Rise Up” (Winston Jarrett & the Righteous Flames) Sankofa CD
Start Over –
“The Wonderman Years” Trojan CD
And the following I had on CDr -
Oppression – Mick Sleeper podcast
Horny Train = Roots Train version, UK Upsetters 7”
Domino Game – Mick Sleeper podcast
Message To The Nation – JA 7” & Mick Sleeper podcast
Dub Message – JA 7”
Standing On The Hill – Mick Sleeper podcast
(the Sleeper podcasts are 4 different ones)
It can´t be a coincidence that all of these run slower on "Sound Doctor"!
You can listen to a couple on the great Smokeyroom site:
