@Congo bunny
They are linked but two different things.
I started the discussion because
Rasta = Reggae
Reggae isnt necessary Rasta
thus saying king of reggae = king of a religion is false.

jj the discussion is not about the king of reggae it is about do you see reggae and rasta as a one or do you see those things separate. Just like i see ganja and reggae separate.Love them both.
But oke also for this discussion counts who cares. I would rather talk about that ebay changed it searches so that you cannot search specific in reggae anymore or what for role played Junior Bailey in the seventies if anybody knows more music produced by him. Well maybe I start those discussions later. Now this got my attention.

Reggae = Rasta Everybody asoiate Reggae with Rastafari
Bob Marley did say in an interview Reggae is music created by and for Rasta people
And Lovers Rock is still singed by rastafarians

Bob Marley was a good musician a person just like you and me. Must I believe everything he sais. He said allot of stuff contradictionary. But from the Rasta point of view I understand it. It is their religious musical content and message.
But a question is Reggae created by a non Rasta no Reggae? Remember Yabby You.
A religion and a music style are two different things no matter what Bob Marley and certainly not what everybody sais.

I can't understand how you reason here. Lovers rock is without a doubt reggae (and one of my favourite genres). Why would it only barely qualify as it? And even if it *barely* qualifies as it -- it is still not rasta oriented music which just goes to prove that reggae and rasta necessarily don't have to do anything with each other.
Just because you think that reggae is a certain thing it doesn't make it to be so for everyone.
This is one of my favourite albums. No mention of rasta in it anywhere. Not reggae huh?

Yes jj you are right. Those musicstyles were foremost played by Christians who later became Rastas. Rasta believe was in those days in the 50 ties and 60 ties foremost in the Nyahbinghi corner. But I guess and know you know that. Thanks for pointing out but I didnt want to draw that in the discussion and would like to focus on reggae. But you are right the king of ska,rocksteady and even early reggae cannot be Jah but most be God.
