Reggae Mono-Stereo Recordings

Post by ZoidZion »

I have recently come across a few albums and even tracks that have been mastered in stereo in a fashio that the vocal recordings come out of one speaker channel and the instruments on the other. What im interested to find out is , were these done on purpose or were they faults in the mastering or do i just have bad copies or was it even a trend that was being developed?
Are there any other albums that have been recorded in such a fashion.

Examples of album copies that I know of recored this way are:
Big Youth - Screaming Target
[cover=1289,1484]

I-Roy - Musical Shark Attack
[cover=199,218]

Gregory Isaacs - Extra Classic (Loving Pauper)
[cover=6350,560]
are there more recordings like these out there?
