Quantity does not automatically exclude quality.=Nilo82= wrote:I think if a re-issue is well done -with love and proper quality- limited pressing is the best thing you can do.
Look at the japanese Prince Buster 45s. I don't know how much they did of "I'll wear my crown" for example, but try to get it somewhere nowadays.
Or take a look at Trojan. They did quantity for a long time and their reputation was almost ruined. Now they're doing limited but quality re-issues and take their time: most of their singles are sold out. Of course - Trojan has an awesome catalogue available for re-releases and they can just keep going, but I gotta back up the "limited with quality" approach.

budget price mp3 albums only, sod physical formats
You can't expect people (majority, not us hard core fans willing to pay for things) to pay for cd's and LP's that they can download for free on internet

Nice. Is that gonna be through Jah Life or you guys? I'm assuming Jah Life since you don't put out LP's? Either way that is great news.Digikiller wrote:jp wrote :
I would love to see the Jah Life catalog see some more reissues. Albums like Smashing Superstars, Family Album, School Days, What's Wrong With the Youths, Mr Sunshine etc.
hold tight, more Jah Life soon come...

Mr. Spaulding is definitely intending to reissue some of his music and the album is in the pipeline. I'll give you more info when I have it.

Great news! If those are as well done as the singles I'll gladly buy them. Big up Digikiller!

Re: Starting A Reggae Re-Issue Label - Thoughts and Ideas Please!!!
Greetings,
I am the producer and owner of all rights of the entire Humble Commission reggae label and series of vinyl releases, 1984-1986. I would appreciate it greatly if no attempt were made to reissue any of my works, at least without contacting me for legal permissions and proper licensing. I still own all copyright and commercial rights to these releases. I am somewhat weary of chasing individuals who have attempted to profit from illegal distribution of my material, but will continue to use what legal leverage I have to do so if necessary.
Individuals serious about obtaining rights to the HC material should contact me with viable offers. The very best of the HC material still remains on master tape only, waiting for a proper offer to be reissued, along with the previous vinyl releases.
Many thanks,
Respect,
Blessings,
JSR
