I have a (i think) late 80's dancehall tune on an old mixtape, which i've never been able to work out and which has bugged me for years.

The chorus is as follows....

'Roadblock reggae music cause a riot, Roadblock reggae music play non stop'

Anyone have any ideas???? Cheers

I remember a reggae tape that I had back in 1986 with a song that went "push that girl in front of de train dey had to take her to the doctor to sew her arm back again, stop that guy rite ...etc" I have looked all over and I cant remember the artist or the song name. But it was a entire tape of the same theme computer music. Can anyone help me as I have seached everywhere.

Hi bancho,

I just checked and couldn't find them. However i like the song a lot so i tried to transcribe them. There is only one word i couldnt understand. Any native english speaker could help you find that word easily. I think the rest is correct it goes like that:

"Temptation got a thing,
Trying to keep me away from Jah glory
so long i wanna sing my song, i wanna tell em of Jah glory
Let the sun come shining through, cause it can make the world feel brand new
And the things that you do, will be there to convict you, All the time,
And after every action , there must be some reaction, I've got to get my satisfaction
When u'r digging (...) dig one dig two
One for me one for you
Dont let it keep your mind and toughts away
Got to be there on time.
See so long i've been coming on strong, now they wanna let me do ?
But through the power of his majesty, tell me through the valley ina time of fury,
(after that its repeat chorus and very few variations of said lyrics)

I hope it helped! Walk in peace

hiya Balughetto... the lyric is:

"when you're digging a hole, dig one dig two"
"one for me, one for you"

kind of a variation of the line from Culture's "Iron Sharpeneth Iron":

"when you're gonna dig a pit, i tell my brother be careful"
"don't dig one, always dig two"

and Rita Marley's "A Jah Jah"

"if you set a trap, well you'd better set two"
"one for your brother man, and one for you"

..among other songs. it's a warning to those that set out to do others harm, that the deeds they do often come back to the evildoer..

Alee... No.2 is the lyrics of 2 different Jamaican folk songs, Miss Lou's - Long Time Gal, very famous song in Jamaica which is done in many stage shows, http://www.jamaicans.com/culture/folk/longtime.shtml

Wheel+Turn mi - is another song altogether, a mento song/JA folk song, but again Miss Lou does this one also but Theo Beckford did a earlier version i think, i have a video of someone singing it i put on youtube long time ago and i think it's Theo Beckford, not sure if he was first.
Goes like: "A Weh u a wheel and turn mi, a weh u a wheel and turn mi, we want to go fall? down? lick mi belly pon tambourine", (repeats)
hope the info helps a little...but an 80's version could be anyone..miss lou if a woman...

There is another version of Long Time Gal which has the Wheel and turn lyrics in aswell so this is likely whjat your after...link below with video...
