I finally picked up this CD today after some searching
[cover=857,993]
I was really looking forward to getting this as I used to have the "Rock & Groove" album and Roots Archives states that this CD includes that album.
Well it does include the 7 tracks from the "Rock & Groove" album but unfortunately only in there shortened vocal only versions as all the extended dubs have been omitted.
So for anyone else who may want to pick up this CD on the strength of getting the full "Rock & Groove" album please be aware the tracks are not the extended versions that are on the "Rock & Groove" LP.
Roots Archive moderators, perhaps one of you can amend the comments on the "Rootsman Skanking" to reflect what the CD actually contains.
Thanks and Regards
Dave

From what I've understood there's no really good CD reissue of Rock & Groove. Which is a damn shame since it's an incredible album. Even the CD that is named Rock & Groove doesn't have all songs and many of them are shortened and in terrible audio quality (from how I remember it at least). In my opinion it's Bunny's finest album followed by Black Heart Man.

You mean this CD
[cover=7855,133]
I bought this when it was released and is probably one of my biggest dissapointments, so much so I just gave it away.
It was absolutely sh*t, the tracks taken from the original "Rock N Groove" LP were also in there shortened form and mixed in with a bunch of later crap digital tracks.
I do have to agree Kalcidis "Rock N Groove" is also my favorite Bunny Wailer album and it really does deserve a proper release in all its extended glory.

Yeah. That's the one. I don't know who decided that the updated graphics were better than the original and should replace it. Whoever it was he/she did a horrible job. The only gripe I have with the original is that it only has like one minute dub on »Jammins«. It should have been at least three minutes of that fat bass rhythm just bubbling dubwise

During the good old B & F days, JB Welda did an excellent CDR comp of this album using extended single versions. I have it somewhere, but whether I can find it is another matter!

Is there a single version of Jammins? Jah Bill has done some great compilations (I've got one with Michael Rose and another one with Ranking Dread).

Re: Bunny Wailer "Rootsman Skanking"
Maybe my memories of this Jah Bill comp were a bit off. I've found it now and there are 12 tracks of which the last 5 are 12" singles including the slow version of "Rise & Shine". None of these 12's feature numbers from "Rock & Groove" and so perhaps it's just the original album, extended by the inclusion of these 12's?
Jammins clocks in at 5.39.
Nice to hear this again!

One of my absolute Bunny favourites is the "Galong So" single from the same time as the Rock 'n' Groove album. If Rock 'n' Groove ever will get a proper re-release, I hope Galong So will be included. It fits well in that set.
