Probably, even though I don't like Hudson that much I keep getting tempted to buy this, plus I would like to support Hot Milk, so I probably will end up buying it

Wait until Zoverstocks has it second hand for £3 or something.
That won't help hot milk, but it's about how much I'm willing to fork out for a Keith Hudson record

Some of his stuff is simply dire, bit of emperors New clothes that he is so popular

I wouldn't say that is the case with Hudson. I understand that people have a hard time with his vocals but when it comes to his productions he is HEAVY. Personally I don't mind most of his vocal cuts (I've heard) and often they work great with his productions.

WRT to Hudson, his stuff usually sounds great, musically. Maybe the same riddims turn up in his stuff a little too often, but he's far from alone amongst Jamaican producers in that regard...

I don't mind his singing style but lyrically, he is sometimes dodgy. Also - he has too many songs about girls.

Is that even possible? Not enough songs about girls in reggae! :)

I remember many years ago hearing Keith Hudson for the first time on the "Playing It Cool" album and I thought it was really crap and just completely dismissed his music as I just couldnt stand his voice.

Then a few years back I picked up "Flesh of my Skin" CD and again I didnt really enjoy what I was hearing. However I kept going back to it and found that it was growing on me to the point where I was really liking it.

Since then I have bought nearly every Keith Hudson CD that has been released and virtually all of them rank amongst my favorite releases.

I think he does have a lack of harmony and tone to his voice but he has a vocal style that for whatever reason has grown on me. Its not tactful but it certainly has something.

And his productions are amongst the moodiest, darkest and heaviest put on record and his dubs equally so.

I think what I am getting at is he is someone who given the listening time could grow on you and should not be dismissed on first hearing him.

Just to add I personally think the 2 CD issue of "Rasta Communication" has been the best release of 2012 by some distance.

I do like some of his productions, but on the whole I find him disappointing. I have actually chopped up all the albums I have of his on iTunes to make ones I like ie all the dubs fromflesh and enter dragon. Also all the DJs from Hudson affair then the dubs from Hudson affair. Then all his songs that he sings on 2 albums that I hardly ever listen to. I tried a few times to listen to the Hudson affair CDs on my commute, but it just gives me a headache that other heavy roots doesn't. I love heavy roots above all other forms of reggae.

Whining aside, I do love the song he sings that goes ' you must be popular'

I think Keith Hudson's cover of Bob Dylan's I Shall Be Released is the best reggae cover version, ever. What a tune!!!

Mine arrived at weekend and sounds fantastic. KH can do no wrong for me. Some of his work is sublime!

As requested by Congo Bunny, it now also has an MP3/FLAC release through Trojan. What's their relationship with the re-issue label I wonder?

yup I was wondering if Sanctuary were releasing it for Hot Milk, or if Hot Milk only had rights to release it on CD (seems a bit odd) Or maybe Hot Milk is a subsidiary or Trojan?
