Duisburg. Not much Reggae a gwaan here.

@Lost Shoe: I can't imagine that Berlin has its own reggae records store.

Been to Massive international, not overly impressed by the vibe of the gent serving me .
Quite suspicious, he came across as money orientated and out to get my cash. Really poor vibe of hostility.
Out on the floor..splendid selection of rare dub albums, I bought 3 rare selections. The boss spent time on the phone saying how badly done to he has been in the reggae business, he was stern and dour. Massive int are selling re copied cds I see.

By the end of the 70'ies there was a shop called "Vinyl-Boogie" in Berlin. Never been there personally, but I ordered many records by post. They were specialised solely in Reggae and Punk. As far as I know this was the first shop in Germany specialised n Reggae. From there I got my first Bullwackie records and also Lee Perry rarities. I remember phoning there many times asking what's new, because these rarities never made it onto their lists. People in Berlin bought the rarities directly in the shop. Too fast for putting them on a list. So my only chance was the telephone.
Considering the times the prices were huge. I remember paying 160 Deutsche Mark for Perry's "Kung Fu Meets The Dragon", and 145 for "DIP Presents The Upsetter". These were my most expensive purchases there, that's why I still remember. But I was so happy to find it that I didn't care for the money. In Munich I had no chance at all finding these kinda records. Back then I bought many Reggae records in Amsterdam, which was paradise compared with Munich. But older Lee Perry or Bullwackies was extremely hard to find even there.
Today it seems paradise has moved to the Internet ;-)

Must say Lost shoe, that had I found Out on the floor records open, not shut, this week, on arrival in Camden , then I would not have wasted money at Massive international, since Out on the floor contains some great stuff.

I remember that Top Franklin Soundsystem used to have a shop in Essen. But I think it's closed for a long time now.

And then there was (or still is?) Irie Records in Münster. I was there a couple of times ages ago. They still got their website/mailorder, but I don't know if the "physical" store still exists.

Sorry for us germans being so off-topic.

Irie Rec`s exists for more than 30 years. You can place onliner orders. The shop meanwhile is a basement shop at the owner`s home.
Everything`s "in full swing" as he used to say.

The miserable git at Out on the floor actually added money to the price of my cds too.
Paid card, got ripped extra, not much but its the principle. Disgusting.
