Scientist Meets the Space Invaders (on "Krissers Collection")

Post by Aaron Levin »

Hey everyone. I sent an email to the person running this faq about a question I had which unfortunately they couldn't answer. So I have to resort to the message board! :) (thanks for responding so quickly, btw).

Anyway, I'm very new to dub and after reading an article about Scientist in Wax Poetics I found a sealed copy of Scientist Meets The Space Invaders.

The seller was going on about how it was an OG, blah blah blah. I payed $20 CAN which, no matter what this album turns out to be, was a good price for the music.

When I opened it I noticed it wasn't on the Greensleeves record label, instead it was on "Krissers Collection". I was just wondering what is the deal with this record... Is my copy a reissue? Bootleg? Canadian pressing? Mega RAER?!

Thanks a lot in advanced!

Greetings and welcome. To the best of my knowlege, most but not all, of Scientist's albums are on Greensleeves. The sleeves and disc's/vinyl middles are very distinctive. Where did you buy it from? These albums are not rare and you shoudn't have a problem finding originals. Try www.ebreggae.com You can be sure the sale will be sound and postage shouldn't be too high if you are in Canada.

Much Respect

Hi Aaron,
maybe a check of matrix-number will help.
The jamaican pressing for this record is on Thompson Sound (producer was Linval Thompson), in Europe and for some time in the rest of the 'west' it was and is on Greensleeves. There has been a lease to RAS records for some time to comfort the amaerican market. The label you are naming is absolutely unknown, might be a canadian subsidiary of idontknowwhat :)
As king said, try contact ernie b.
