One of the best documentaries of roots reggae in the 70's. I wish it was a little bit longer to cover some of the djs like big youth, more about u roy but it is still a classic. Ras michael, thrid world the gladitors in studio and what about the scaratching gutiar by bob playing lively up yourself all that is good stuff. One thing that i have been looking for after watching this movie is songs by that dj yami brown. Maybe carlos you might know if this dj ever got anything out. I dont know if he changed his name or not but he was the dj chanting right after third world before inner circle. Any help on this is much appreciated.

give thanks.

the first tune one can hear at Randy's really sounds like the Jay's recut to the Viceroy's Yaho, but the mix is slightly different.

I'm looking for the same "play on Mr. Music" song sung by the Heptones and Congo's in the movie. If you know where to get it let me know.

I also wonder about those guys who auditioned for Jack Ruby in his backyard "the good better and in-different..." and "the longest liver will see the most"

I want their music.

And can anybody get the version of Jimmy Cliff's "Wanted Man" as recorded on the movie. His version in print not as rootsy.

up
actually the Yaho tune played at Randy's shop is by the Gladiators, and its DJ version "economical Crisis" by Trinity. It was produced by Tony Robinson, probably during the same studio sessions when they record Hearsay and jah works in the film.
By the way, does somebody know who is the band playing whith the Mighty Diamonds in the Club?
Thanks

I have the ska documentary aswell as lots of other similar films+documentaries email me for lists.
I'd also love to find out if them guys auditioning for Jack Ruby ever got to put any tunes out, if he didn't he lost some good artists there, it's interesting to see a later audition in Jack Ruby's yard several years later, on the Deep Roots documentary, but looks likt hings hadn't changed an awful lot!
