Studio One Roots II vs. Jack Ruby's Hi Fi

Post by Hendo »

Studio One Roots 2 is a great album, but lets not forget that its the second in its series. I havent listened to 'roots 2' as much as I have first album (studio one Roots) and maybe that bias' me but I'd have to say I like the First Roots better. That being said: Jack Ruby's Hi Fi is my pick for top Various Artist Album. Its great! Although the LP is only 8 tracks long (4 songs + dubs for each) each song + dub combo is over 10 minutes long! This album really surprised me, I had ordered it online and hadn't heard it before it went down onto my platter. I was blown away!. I give this album top slot mainly for its originality of content, the fact Jack Ruby Productions are otherwise so hard to come by, and its album format (it takes balls for a record company to release a whole LP with basicly only 4 "tracks")
So well done Auralux Recordings, you deserve top spot!
