According to the liner notes of the album these recordings were recorded mid-80s under Linval Thompson's production at Channel One and with Roots Radics as backing band. When you listen to the tracks you will notice a difference in sound on some tracks that hints to some later recording date. So half of the story might be true that some songs were recorded back in these days.
