Re: What does this mean????????
Cannot answer fully to this, as far as I know 'chalwa' is the pipe, another word for 'chalice'. Or smoke a little 'oily', or 'I-ly' as the rastas say, meaning oil-hash. But where the word 'chalwa' or 'chalawa' originates from, I haven't got a clue

Chalawa is a creolized Indian word ( just as : callaloo, ganzie, kali, ganja). Indian indentured laborers have had a big influence on afro Jamaican culture, as they shared many yards.
Ilie is the "I"- version of Kali ( ganja). Kali being the fierce black goddess, became synonemous with ganja.(callie/collie).
Around the 1950's a new more militant group arose among the young Rastafari of Jamaica and they started using "I"-words in order to distinguish themselves from those who spoke the Queen's english. I-ppa ( pepper) I-llaloo ( callaloo), I-rites ( joyfull/upfull spirit) etc etc.
