Re: good irreligious reggae?
actually when the lyrics dont mention jah explicitly still the music itself remains deeply religious. It's the way and the spirituality in which the instruments are played. Even lovers rock singers or someone like elephant man will assure you that she or he was inspired by the love of Jah while recording the music. speaking of Dillinger... In "Jah Love" doesn't he say something like "Every Dread should learn the Amharic" ?

Bad Brains had loads of religious songs. Most of them were too fast to notice though.bandulu wrote: maybe the Bad Brains or UB40 weren't religious not sure about that tho..
UB40 were just posers making black music for white people.

I can't decide which I admire more, your sense of humour, or your deep knowledge of and passion for the music! Respect.
how was this deep knowledge?
I found his post funny....not "pie in the face" funny, more in a "true true...." wisdom kind of way. Atheism is not a well-subscribed belief in JA. He knows of what he speaks....that's knowledge.

Nothing compares to Linton Kwesi Johnson, no religion there, just political lyrics that say plenty of good stuff.

Why would you want 'irreligious reggae'..? Just asking for your motive?

Re: good irreligious reggae?
merely curious, wondering if there was any rare unbelief and open atheism within reggae lyrics, despite how aware i am of the bulk of early reggae being faith-based, but i've been scolded for askingSurvival wrote:Why would you want 'irreligious reggae'..? Just asking for your motive?
