I am having a mental ordeal trying to find a song-Please recognize the lyrics and help me brain stop a dem aches and pains!
Chorus-
Survival is the game
Survial, is the game
I'm not the one to blame
I'm not the one to blame
Big fish, eat up, the smaller fishes;
that's what they do. (repeat)
Early 80s maybe...sounds a lot like Culture-This song makes my soul float, hope some Rasta love come my way!

Re: Help From Rootsy Fans
I think it is Leonard Dillon's (The Ethiopians) song called 'Survival' from the CD 'On The Road Again' 1991, that your asking about.

That's not the one T, listened to a sample from Amazon after receiving your post. The vocalist is reminiscent of Freddie McGregor or Culture.

That's the same riddim as Barrington's "When friday come" right?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6diKpg5e_wM
I'm looking for more versions of that riddim. General Echo "Lovers corner", Eastwood/Saint "Hey Mr. DJ".
And Scientist's "Monkey Spanner" from his World at War LP - is that the version of the Mighty Diamonds track?

Re: Help From Rootsy Fans
I'ma reply to my own three-months-old post. Yesterday I heard the V. A. compilation Rodigan's Dub Classics (Serious Selections Vol. 1). Track 11 on the CD is King Tubby - Clash of Steel. I recognized the bassline as Barrington Levy's When Friday come. Apparently the Clash of Steel original is Larry Marshall - Brand new Baby.
So these three tracks
Larry Marshall - Brand new Baby
Mighty Diamonds - Survival
Barrington Levy - When Friday come
are all on the same bassline/riddim. Can anyone confirm this please. I'm not a musician and the three tracks have very different arrangements. Still the same riddim? Larry Marshall seems to be the original.
