Need help identifying a track by U Roy approx 1979-

Post by Pete »

Please can anyone help me?
I am looking for a track by U Roy released in the late 1970's (it contains a lot of echo)but I don't know the title or what label it was released on. I do know that U Roy's toasting contained the words "I ain't gonna get married" and "said he won't be coming back and don't you look back" and "no turning your back". The song over which he is toasting contains the words "now you coming running up the track to me" and sounds a bit like Ken Boothe. I am a big U Roy fan but have had no luck identifying this track - I heard it on a BBC Reggae local radio show in about 1979 and have been searching for the past 25 years so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

it is absolutely over the great ken boothe song"come running back" one studio one label but I haven't heard the U-roy version I don't think.
at least it being on studio one should limit your search as most of U-roys early rekkids were on treasure isle. try some clocktower releases as they tend to be a lot dubbier and echo-ee. hope that helps

I´m rather sure that you find the track on either the "Rasta Ambassador" or the "Jah Son Of Africa" album from 1977 and 1978.

Many thanks Ron, after 25 years of searching and not knowing where to look you have identified it for me! I have now purchased Jah Son of Africa and think the album is great especially the track above in particular of course.
Thanks again
