unknown song

Post by Dubbed_Up_Like_A_Kipper »

Does anyone know a song that goes like:

'The youth dem in a Brixton say they win a good fight/say dem fling gas bomb left and right.

The fight it was a racial fight sah/because it did involve the black and the white sah.'

It was released around 1981. There was a vocal version, and a dub.

I am desperate to find out the title so I can then try and get hold of a copy of the song.

Thanks for reading!

I might be wrong, but from the words it must be 'Forces of Victory' by Linton Kwesi Johnson, released on the sametitled album in 1981. Dubversion you'll find on the 'LKJ in DUB' album.

Bellyman could be right about this being a Linton Kwesi Johnson lyric. If so, this song could be on

or
'Forces Of Victory' (from 1979)
or
'Bass Culture' (from early 80's)
both LP's now deleted but selections can be found on this one:
