Reggae 12"s
Some time ago I gave my nephew approx 300 reggae albums and 500 reggae 12" singles. All of these were original pressings circa 1978 - 1984. I have since found out that the majority of the 12" singles that I gave away are changing hands for in excess of £100.00 each ie folly ranking by johnny osbourne, bionic skank & keep on knocking by jacob miller to name just three. Can anyone tell me why these 12" original pressings with dub / dj versions are changing hands at such high prices. I didn`t realise they were worth this much and I think, judging by what i`ve been told, I might have given my nephew in excess of £30,000 worth of vinyl. Are these late 70`s / early 80`s 12" original pressing much sort after ?

Re: Reggae 12"s
oh yes i-man.
those original pressings from late 70's & early '80s are worth a fortune now.
i traded most of mine in at record store
long before they went up in value.
most of the records youre talking about,
like the 12", had extended versions,
and dubs that will never be reissued.
once theyre out of print, you wont ever
find the same dub mixes ever again.
sorry to tell you that.
anyhow , jah love &
happy new year.

Re: Reggae 12"s
I wouldn't get too carried away with speculation.
Only a small percentage of the collection would fetch the prices you qoute in all likelyhood.

Re: Reggae 12"s
If I had those albums or 12" I would never give them away. I would not even sell them
