Man if you dig hard roots, then you'll love martin campbell. He is one of my favorite roots singers of all time, white or not. Very unique voice, and crucial lyrics. Look him up, you won't be dissapointed. Unless your into that new digital sound (td)

White man cyan do reggae"

Let me guess, you are black?... and racist, blacks can only do sport then.
Given that Bob Marley is half white, he did only 50% of reggae?????
Never heard such a stupid statement.
Do you know Serge Gainsbourg????
If not, you don't know reggae...

To reggaeoriginator

I am so white that the nazis would have loved me. I hate Bob Marley's influence on reggae because i think it was so commercial. Serge Gainsbourg. Didnt he hit on Janet Jackson on a TV show? I prefer Johnny Clarke i must say...

You remember Gainsbar, as he was called when he was playing a rude character! As Gainsbourg, he recorded 2 LPs in Kingston with the I-Threes and Peter Tosh's musicians, two very rare LPs if you are not in France. This white guy was so influential that still today, Sly + Robbie remember him (as they told me and the newspapers), and they 've seen some artists...
I too prefer real roots to the late recording of BMW.

I can't really understand why anyone who claims to like reggae couldn't find something by BMW that they like.

Like Marley's music or not, without him 99% of the world would never have heard of Reggae music.

The first reggae tune that really stuck in my punk biker head back in 1977 was marely's brilliant Jammin'.

And from Jammin', via the Kaya LP, I ended up here today, on this reggae forum with a nice collection of roots reggae in my room.

A collection that includes almost all of Johnnie Clarke's LPs and many, many very obscure records from deep down in the reggae underworld.

But please, even if you don't like his music, give Bob his due for wehat he did to promote reggae music outernationally.
